Tick-borne encephalitis is a viral disease that is spread by infected ticks and can also be contracted by drinking unpasturised milk. It is a serious illness that can cause flu-like symptoms, including muscle pain, fever and nausea. Forested areas in the affected countries pose the highest risk. Rural activities increase the risk of contracting the disease.
The tick-borne encephalitis vaccincation comes in 3 doses and is to be given over the course of 5-12 months to offer full protection. The course can be accellarated if required which would reqiure 2 doses being given 2 weeks apart.
The vaccine is not suitable for children under the age of 1.
The vaccinations requires 3 doses.
Booster doses are recommended every three years if you continue to be at risk.
