Rabies Vaccine


Rabies is a fatal viral infection that is spread via the saliva of infected animals to humans. This is from the bite or scratch most commonly from a dog, other animals such as bats, cats and monkeys are also a source. 

Currently there is  no effective treatment once clinical signs develop.

Vaccination should be considered by all travellers to endemic areas.


Inactivated vaccine.


3 doses 0, 7 and 28 days.

If time is short third dose can be given on day 21.

Routine boosting for travellers not required. Those at frequent or continuous exposure blood testing and booster may be required.
