Yellow fever is a viral disease that is spread by mosquitos in tropical parts of South America and Africa. It is far more common during the rainy season and can be contracted in both urban and jungle areas. It is a very serious disease and can be fatal. Vaccination can offer life time protection.
Affected countries require a vaccincation certifcate before they will allow a traveller to enter. The Yellow fever vaccination is sometimes also required for travellers arriving from countries with a risk of Yellow fever transmission. The vaccination must be given at least 10 days before travel as the certificate only becomes valid 10 days after the vaccination is given. In some cases vaccinaton is not recommended for some customers and an exemption certificate on medical grounds can be considered.
