Japanese Encephalitis is a type of viral brain infection that is contracted through mosquito bites. More severe cases can result in brain swelling which may lead to brain damage and can be fatal.
The Japanese Encephalitis vaccination can be given from 2 months of age.
2 doses to be given 28 days apart.
An accelerated schedule of 2 doses given 7 days apart is licensed for last minute travellers aged 18+
A booster is recommended after 1 year for those at continued risk.
