If you are taking this test to confirm an absence of a COVID-19 infection for travel purposes, we cannot guarantee you will receive your results before your date of departure. We do not provide certificates indicating fit for travel with this test.

The Coronavirus PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) test is a swab test that detects the presence of the genetic material in coronavirus called RNA, indicating a current COVID-19 infection. This throat and nose swab can be performed by an individual on themselves. The sample is then analysed at an accredited laboratory and results are typically available within 48 hours of the sample being received.

The result will either show COVID-19 RNA is ‘detected’ or ‘not detected’.

The laboratory is required to inform Public Health England of all positive Coronavirus PCR results in accordance with the Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010.Public Health England may request us to provide your contact details to them so that they can contact you to arrange testing of people that you have been in contact with.

How to request a test

Please note you must be at least 18 years old to purchase a test kit and to provide a sample for testing

You do not need to visit the clinic to obtain your home test kit

Telephone Jenhams Clinic or email us with the following information:

Your name, address, date of birth, mobile telephone number and email address

A registered nurse will discuss the test and answer any further questions you may have.
We will request payment of £160 prior to sending the home testing kit. An invoice will be emailed to you directly. Please pay by bank transfer as we are currently unable to take credit card payments over the phone.
As soon as payment is received we will arrange a home testing kit to be sent to your home.
Clear and precise instructions are contained in the kit. Please follow them exactly.
Return your completed sample as instructed to the laboratory ensuring you use a Priority Postbox.
Your result will be emailed to you from Jenhams Clinic within 48 hours after the lab have received it. Please note that this time is not guaranteed and the laboratory takes no responsibility for postal delays.

IMPORTANT-POSTING YOUR SAMPLE TO THE LAB

Royal Mail is not accepting any Covid-19 samples at post office counters or non-priority postboxes. All samples must be posted in a priority postbox.

This is because the postal workers collecting from prioty postboxes have the proper PPE in order to safely handle the samples. Your return envelope will have a sticker identifying it as a Covid-19 sample. These postboxes are clearly labelled.
